L'Oracle de la Magie Burlesque
The project
Written by Priscilla Luthringer and published by Arcana Sacra, this oracle invites us to explore the archetypes of a multiple, flamboyant, indomitable feminine. In an atmosphere inspired by burlesque, circus and cabaret aesthetics, these 44 powerful, atypical figures shake up conventions, upset norms and give boldness its rightful place.
It’s a real show, a blend of acceptance and transgression, an ode to marginal identities that are assumed, proud and sovereign. These muses step out of the frame, literally and symbolically, to embody a message: that of regaining possession of one’s body, one’s voice, one’s magic.
Production of the 44 cards, card backs and cover design.
Artistic direction
The oracle’s visual universe blends brilliance and impertinence, in an assertive graphic style reminiscent of a comic strip. Each card is a scene, a tableau vivant where the character occupies all the space – and then some. The gilded, Art Deco-inspired frame recalls the glittering elegance of the cabaret, while allowing the protagonists to break free: here, nothing and no one remains enclosed.
Each illustration has its own color palette, vibrating to the rhythm of the energy it embodies. Symbolic pictograms accompany the characters, facilitating intuitive interpretation and reinforcing the esoteric significance of each message.
